There is so much buzz and hype around social media – especially in a Business 2 Business context; so much so that organisations are finding it difficult to keep up with the trends and further to that show real business value from their social media efforts. Measuring by followers, likes and friends is all well and good if you are merely building a following, but there is more to do than that.
On the 15th of August at the ITWeb Social Media Summit, David Graham and I will be unpacking a little more around how and where Deloitte have used social media to their benefit as well as some of the lessons that have been learnt along the way.
One of the most critical aspects of this is that there is a lot more to social media than just marketing. And for this reason, your social media initiatives need to be measured from all sides – and not just the “marketing” angle.
In the presentation we will unpack some of the critical questions that you need to answer before you truly begin engaging with social media. We will highlight some of the reasons why social media within business fails. further to that we will touch on the required lines of thinking that makes social media a discipline that operates both externally and internally! The application of social media for your business should not be primarily focused on short term campaigns, but rather long term value adding collaboration!

In addition to that, we will be running a Google+ Hangout on the 16th of August with Michael Cowen – I will update this post with those details as soon as they are ready. I urge you to catch this hangout as there is going to be some excellent insights and content shared!
